Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Welfare, Spain

The Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Welfare seeks the proposal and implementation of the Government policy in the field of health, planning and health care and consumer protection, as well as the exercise of the powers of the General Administration of the State to ensure citizens the right to health protection. Part of its mission is also the proposal and implementation of the Government policy in the field of social cohesion and inclusion, family, child protection, care for dependent or disabled people and equality policies.

Through its Instituto de Mayores y Servicios Sociales (National Institute of Social Services), the Ministry has implemented the national Spanish Resource Centre for rare diseases: Centro de Referencia Estatal de Atención a Personas con Enfermedades Raras y sus Familias (CREER) – a one stop-shop service.
